Rural Wales

Welcome to my Rural Wales landscape photography gallery.

‘Rural’ can be used to describe most of Wales outside the larger cities and towns of north and south Wales but what it means to me is home. I live in a small but picturesque village in the beautiful Montgomeryshire countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, wooded valleys, farmland and meandering rivers. Wales is steeped in history and ancient reminders can be found everywhere with over 400 castles (I can think of at least four within a 10 mile radius of my house) and countless indicators of it’s prehistoric past scattered across the landscape. This is the land of the hidden gem and the pretty countryside scene, it might take a little more effort than in the more popular tourist areas to find them but once you do you’re almost guaranteed to have them to yourself.

My images of the Welsh countryside often get the most appreciation from viewers on my social media platforms, they’re reminded of places they from their childhood that they perhaps don’t often see on social media because of the dominance of the more popular landscape photography locations. Hopefully, my gallery of images from the countryside of Wales will bring back a few memories for some and introduce others to the landscape of Rural Wales and inspire them to visit this beautiful part of Wales for themselves.
