My Gear
I receive quite a few queries regarding my landscape photography gear and, particularly since starting my Youtube channel, my filmaking and audio gear.
I’m not someone who follows the latest news and trends around photography gear closely so you’re not going to find too many gear reviews on my website or Youtube channel. However, I do always thoroughly research and test before buying my own equipment. As a result, I have been very happy with my choices and my photography gear hasn’t changed too drastically since I purchased my Nikon D750 in 2015, with only the occasional addition needed every now and again.
Below is the landscape photography, filming and audio gear that I’m using at the moment, as well as any accessories that I feel might be useful to add to your own collection. Most of this equipment has been put through every test possible over the years, so you can be assured that if it’s still in my list it has passed with flying colours!
Cameras and drone
My workhorse, I’ve owned this camera since 2015, still love it and have no plans to change it anytime soon. Great image quality, dynamic range and low light performance it’s tough and fairly lightweight too. Difficult to buy new these days but there are still a few about and I’m hearing that the D780 is a pretty good successor to one of Nikon’s best ever DSLRs!
Originally bought as a backup for my D750 but it’s definitely not just a backup camera with excellent image quality, great dynamic range and a fast lens. Still available to purchase as new despite it being released in 2014. Great camera if you’re looking to get started with more advanced photography but still keep things lightweight and pocket size.
A new addition to my gear in the last year, mainly to help film my Youtube videos. My last Gopro was a Hero 4, so my mind was blown by the improvement made to EVERYTHING, particularly the image quality and stabilization. Front facing screen makes vlogging easy and it’s great to have a video camera for all weather, especially in Wales.
Adding a different dimension to both my photography and Youtube videos, this my first drone and I haven’t been disappointed with it. Shooting RAW images and 4K video it’s compact and lightweight and easily fits in my camera bag along with all my other gear. Great starter drone for me with a price that’s means that I’m not too scared to fly it! Very Impressed!
Lenses
Kit lens that came with the D750 package. Versatile and sharp lens that’s always in my bag.
My favourite lens, great build quality and very sharp. My favourite images have been taken with this lens!
“The Bazooka” great value for a lens with this zoom range. Boosts landscape and wildlife photo ops.
My Astro lens. Wide, fast and affordable, great for starting out with astrophotography. Manual focus lens.
